Dimensions in Blue, the Jazz Ensemble from the United States Air Force Band of the West, based at Lackland Air Force in San Antonio, will present a concert on May 19 at 7 p.m. at the Ruthe Jackson Center, 3113 S. Carrier Parkway. The performance, presented by the Grand Prairie Arts Council and the Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Department, is free of charge and open to the public.

This group performs a wide variety of music ranging from the classics of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Woody Herman, to the more contemporary sounds of Rob McConnell, Bob Mintzer, and Frank Mantooth. The band can also recreate the look & sound of the 1940s Glenn Miller Army Air Corps Jazz Band.

Dimensions in Blue performs in high schools, universities, and community-relations tours throughout Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Louisiana. They have been featured performers at the Texas Jazz Festival, the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, the International Association of Jazz Educators Convention, the Corpus Christi Jazz Festival, the Galveston Jazz Festival, and San Antonio’s “Fiesta In Blue” activities.
