Dallas Desire holds mini-camp
The Lingerie Football League’s Dallas Desire held a mini-camp Friday at QuickTrip Park to give the team’s twelve active members an opportunity for a workout and hopefuls a chance to land one of the eight inactive spots on the team’s roster.
League founder Mitchell Mortaza said the league plans a twenty week season beginning in September finishing in January with games played on Friday nights. He described “LFL, Friday Night Football” as “compelling football played by beautiful women.” The games nights will have a party style, mega-nightclub atmosphere that features 7-on-7, full-tackle football, he said.
Dallas Desire team member Linda Brenner, a computer system analyst and part-time model, said she has been involved in athletics most of her life and played softball while attending Texas Woman’s University. Saying she looks forward to the season and has already begun informal workouts with Desire head coach Jen Welter, a veteran women’s football league player.
“With lingerie football I can integrate my athleticism with my modeling,” Brenner said. Several AirHogs players stuck around after their early Friday workout at QuickTrip to watch the Desire’s mini-camp.
AirHogs catcher Cody Merrell remarked, “These girls are not all prissy. They’re playing football out there.” He said he “definitely” plans to attend one of Desire’s home games.
The Dallas Desire has two games at QuickTrip Park, September 24 and October 23. Fans arriving early game nights at QuikTrip Park can take part in one of the country’s biggest tailgate festivities complete with Beer Gardens, Video Gaming Lounges, Football Challenges, LIVE Music/DJs, Face-Painting, Bar-B-Que Stations etc.
