Howard Payne University music students present concert at First Baptist Church

Sixteen students from Howard Payne University are on a music tour throughout the Metroplex from January 28-31 and make a stop in Grand Prairie Sunday.

The group, a compilation of eight piano majors, four singers, four instrumentalists and accompanied by Dr. Elizabeth Wallace, professor of music, plays January 31 at the 10:50 a.m. service at the First Baptist Church, 122 NE 2nd.

According to Dr. Wallace, the purpose of the trip is, “to share our love of music, minister through worship and be ambassadors for HPU.”

The group has prepared secular and sacred piano solos and duets, vocal solo and ensemble works and numbers for piano and instruments. Jazz combo pieces will be performed at the various venues.

Tour itinerary:

January 28 – Ovilla Christian School in Red Oak from 1:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
January 29 - Quo Vadis Christian Academy/Household of Faith Church in Garland at 7:30 p.m.
Januray 30 - Steinway Hall in Fort Worth beginning at 5:00 p.m.
January 31 - First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie at the 10:50 a.m. service.
Hampton Road Baptist Church in DeSoto beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Church.

Students participating in the tour include Christopher Bell, Elizabeth Bates, Olivia Berry, Leanne Bledsoe, Cara Craggett, Tabitha Davies, Samantha Fenwick, Julia Hironaga, Tabitha Livingston, Chelsea Murphree, Matthew Ramirez, Kris Redus, Rebekah Sherrod, Andrew Stallsworth, David Watson and Kaitlyn Zachary.
