A man was arrested Monday night after police allege he purposely set fire to a home in the 1600 block of Hickory during a domestic dispute.
Detective John Brimmer, Grand Prairie Police, said officers were called to the home around 9:30 p.m. after Tramainium Williams, 23, assaulted a female, threatened her and others in the home with a knife.
Detective Brimmer added that Williams then went into a bedroom in the rear of the house and set a couch on fire.
Police officers at the house for the disturbance tried to extinguish the blaze, but were unable to control the fire. It took the Grand Prairie Fire Department about 30 minutes to put out the fire that caused extensive damage to the house.
Williams was arrested at the scene for the assault and arson.
