Motorcyclist becomes year's first traffic fatality
Police said Bryan Embree, 33, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle west bound between MacArthur and Belt Line when he lost control, went into a slide and was ejected from the bike.
Traffic following Embree braked causing a 1995 Chevrolet to collide with the back of a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. The collision caused the driver of the Hyundai to lose control, strike the center barrier and overturn several times.
The Hyundai apparently struck Embree as he lay in the left lane of the freeway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 28 year-old passenger in the Hyundai was injured and transported by ambulance to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas where she was treated and released.
Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Division, said the accident remains under investigation.
