Grand Prairie police believe speed was a factor in a traffic accident Friday night that killed Billy Ray Massie, 39, of Grand Prairie, and Anthony Brown, 28, of Arlington.

Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Division, said the single car collision occurred at about 9:10 p.m. in the 800 block of South Great Southwest Parkway when Massie, driving a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro at a high rate of speed northbound, lost control of the car, left the roadway, and struck a tree. Massie and Brown were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Hansen added that the accident remains under investigation and Massie and Brown are the 2nd and 3rd traffic fatalities in Grand Prairie this year.
