Grand Prairie continues to clean up the widespread damage caused by last week’s record twelve inch snowfall and city officials say it will take weeks to haul off the massive amount of debris left in the wake of the storm.

As residents and tree trimming crews throughout the city remain busy removing downed tree branches and limbs from properties, large piles of brush stack up at curb side along city streets.

“We’re working as fast as we can,” Amy Sprinkles, Communications Director for the City of Grand Prairie said.

With only one brush removal truck and crew, she continued, it will take some time for the city crew haul off all the debris.

She said residents who have damaged trees and shrubs on their property can cut the branches and limbs into four foot lengths, bundle it and place it at the curb. Grand Prairie Disposal will pick up the brush on the resident’s regularly scheduled trash pickup days.

She added that if the resident has a large amount brush, it may take several trash days for it all to be picked up.

If that is not an option, Sprinkles continued, residents should get the limbs to the curb and call 972-237-8525 to schedule a brush removal pickup.

With the large amount of trash and the high demand for the crew, “That could take awhile for us to get to you. But we will, we’ll get to you,” she added.
