Texas trio to play at Uptown Theater
Jon Dee Graham is a three-time inductee to the Austin Music Hall of Fame. His unique prism of pointed lyrics, searing guitar and arrangements sway between touching ballads and rock. Graham toured with The Skunks and The True Believers in the 1980s and has toured, written, recorded and produced with artists such as John Hiatt, The Gourds, Alejandro Escovedo, Patti Smith, Darden Smith and Ryan Hedgecock of Lone Justice. Graham was named 2006 Musician of the Year by the Austin Chronicle and is listed twice in a list of The 20 Greatest Texas Bands of All Time. The Texas Critics Association places his song Laredo as one of the top 20 songs about Texas.
Singer, songwriter Darrell Scott’s prolific career has provided the County Western music world numerous songs and hits. Scott has worked with many Country Western stars, including the Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood and Randy Travis. Scott’s awards include: 2009 American Songwriter Top 25 Songs for the Last 25 Years, 2007 Americana Award for Song of the Year, 2004 Country Music Songwriter of the Year, 2003 Grammy Nomination for Best Country Song and 2002 ASCAP Songwriter of the Year.
Guy Forsyth is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist of American Music. He blends folk, rock, blues and Tin Pan Alley into a sound that’s pure Americana. As well as singing, he plays the guitar, ukelele, harmonica and singing saw (for which he won an Austin Music Award for Best Miscellaneous Instrument). Forsyth has also won an AMA for Best Male Vocalist. He tours with Will Landin (bass/tuba) and Rob Hooper (drums/cajon), but often remembered as a founding member of the theatrical roots music group The Asylum Street Spankers.
