School district first in the nation to launch Digital Teaching Platform

Grand Prairie Independent School District (ISD) is pioneering a new concept in U.S. schools while helping students master the knowledge and skills they need to prepare for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). This school year the district became the first U.S. school district to launch Time To Know, a complete, interactive curriculum system designed specifically for today’s one-to-one computing classrooms.

Used successfully in schools across Israel, Time To Know introduces to U.S. schools a new educational product category, the Digital Teaching Platform. Designed specifically for classrooms equipped with computers for each student, Time To Know empowers teachers to easily manage instruction, learning and assessment. With Time To Know, the teacher guides the class using an engaging curriculum integrated with tools for classroom management, planning, assessment and collaboration.

”Our goal is to facilitate strategic engagement in the classroom. When students are engaged, they take more ownership in the learning process, they gain a deeper understanding of essential concepts and skills, attendance improves, and there are fewer discipline problems,” said Dr. Susan Simpson, superintendent of Grand Prairie ISD. “In the classrooms that are implementing Time To Know, we are realizing the results of strategic engagement thanks to the seamless integration of technology into daily teaching and learning. We are seeing active classrooms where students are excited and motivated to learn, and teachers are enjoying their role as a mentor and coach. Our principals are reporting improved student achievement on district assessments, increased attendance and a decrease in discipline issues. We’re very excited about the possibilities for one-to-one computing in our school district.”

Unlike tutorial software, Time To Know is a core curriculum program that delivers standards-based instruction in mathematics and reading/language arts to help students learn essential content and prepare for high stakes tests. Built upon social constructivist principles, the interactive curriculum also offers open-ended explorations and collaboration tools to deepen student understanding and strengthen problem-solving skills. For teachers, Time To Know provides time-saving tools to streamline classroom management, create a smooth flow between group and individual instruction, and deliver differentiated activities to every learner.
