Officer injured working accident on I-30
A Grand Prairie police officer was injured Sunday about 4:15 a.m. when a suspected drunk driver crashed into the rear of the officer’s squad car.
Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Divison, said Officer Hunter Dell was blocking traffic on Interstate 30 at Highway 161 near the scene of a major accident when a 2005 GMC pickup driven by Jose Martinez, 26, of Arlington collided with another pickup and then struck the officer’s 2006 Ford Crown Victoria squad car.
Officer Dell was taken by ambulance to John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth where he was treated and released. The driver of the other truck was also taken to John Peter Smith hospital with minor injuries.
Martinez was arrested at the scene and charged with DWI.
